Strong Condemnation Over the Physical Harassment of a Bangladeshi Student in Sydney

Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteer Party (Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal), Australia Calls for Investigation Against Awami Jubo Mohila League Leader

Sydney, 25 June 2025:
A recent incident in Sydney involving the alleged physical harassment of a Bangladeshi international student has sparked outrage and concern within the Bangladeshi expatriate community. The accused is reportedly a former leader of the banned Awami Jubo Mohila League in Bangladesh, who is currently residing in Australia and actively involved in local social circles.

According to reports and social media sources, the woman allegedly used her political identity to seek asylum in Australia. The student has accused her of misconduct, intimidation, and physical assault — a matter that has deeply disturbed members of the Bangladeshi diaspora.

In response, the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteer Party (Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechhasebak Dal), Australia Chapter has strongly condemned the incident. In a joint statement, Convener Md Moshior Rahman Tuhin and Member Secretary Zahidur Rahman expressed grave concern, stating: “Such deplorable behaviour not only violates an individual’s safety and dignity but also tarnishes the image and integrity of the entire Bangladeshi community in Australia.”

The statement further urged Australian law enforcement authorities to conduct an impartial investigation and ensure proper legal action against the accused, as well as protection and necessary support for the victimized student.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteer Party,Australia Chapter emphasized that the Bangladeshi community in Australia expects to live in a peaceful, respectful, and cooperative environment, and any attempt to disrupt that harmony must be firmly resisted.

In a signed statement, Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, Joint Convener (Office), Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteer Party, Australia, said: “The Bangladeshi community in Australia upholds values of civility, culture, and cooperation. Any attempt to pollute this environment is unacceptable, and we expect a united response from all Bangladeshis living abroad against such misconduct.”
