Australias women cricketer Ellyse Perry has decided to end her four-year tie with Matt Touma.
The fast bowling all-rounder got married with the rugby player Matt Touma in December 2015. The couple issued a joint statement confirming the news.
The cricket fraternity got shocked with the news, though the rumour about their separation occurred when the three-time prestigious Belinda Clark award winner Perry was spotted with her wedding ring at multiple events beginning of this year.
It’s with the greatest of respect for one another that we decided to separate earlier this year, the pair said in a joint statement on Saturday.
“We felt this was the right course of action and is in the best interests of each other and our current lives. This is something that has evolved and is a mutual decision. Throughout our relationship we have remained private and we ask that our space and privacy continue to be respected during this difficult time for both of us,” the statement read further.
Perry has played eight Tests, 112 ODIs, and 120 Twenty20Is throughout her career so far, scoring 624, 3022 and 1218 runs in the three formats respectively. The right-handed all-rounder also has 297 wickets to her name across format.
