BNP Australia Organises Discussion on Victory Day and the Ongoing Non-Cooperation Movement

On Sunday, 24 December 2023, at 7:00 PM, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Australia Chapter held a discussion meeting titled “Victory Day and Our Responsibilities in the Ongoing Non-Cooperation Movement” at the Lakemba Library Auditorium in Sydney.

The event was presided over by Mr. A.F.M. Towhidul Islam, Convener of the Victory Day Program Implementation Committee, and conducted by Mr. Mohammad Haider Ali, Member Secretary and former Central Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader. The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Mr. K.M. Manjurul Haque Alamgir, a BNP Australia leader and former professor. A prayer was then offered for the souls of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence, and all martyrs of the Liberation War and current democratic movement.

Afterward, the National Anthem and Party Anthem were performed.

A welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Sarwar Kamal Chowdhury, former Convener of Teknaf Upazila BNP, who urged all BNP Australia leaders and activists to maintain regular contact with their local colleagues and provide support to one another to the best of their ability.

In his presidential address, Mr. A.F.M. Towhidul Islam congratulated all leaders and members present and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the tireless efforts of all subcommittee members. He also thanked everyone who contributed time and effort to make the event successful and extended his gratitude to guests and attendees for their patience and presence throughout the program.

The Chief Guest, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Legal Affairs Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, addressed the meeting virtually from Bangladesh. In his speech, he urged: “Those among you who are financially capable should stand by the ongoing movement in Bangladesh and remain aware of the challenges faced by our people.”
He added, “Many judges and government officials who come to Australia for training return home and act against the principles they learned here. If you can present these issues to the Australian government, it will greatly assist the movement for the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh.”

In his special address, Mr. Mohammad Rashedul Haque, Assistant International Affairs Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, said: “Insha’Allah, very soon the democracy-loving people of Bangladesh will, through this non-cooperation movement, overthrow the current regime and establish a truly democratic government elected by the people. The so-called election on 7 January, staged by the subservient Election Commission, will be boycotted, and through a mass movement, the fall of this fascist Hasina regime will be achieved.”

Special Guest Mr. Md. Faruk Ahmed Khan, founding General Secretary of BNP Australia, thanked both senior and new members for their dedication and urged all levels of BNP leadership to unite and participate actively in the movements ahead.
