Like every year, Zia Forum Australia organized the Victory Fair this year as well on December 14 (Saturday) at Wiley Park in Sydney, courtesy of Nirala Holdings. Following the national anthems of Bangladesh and Australia, the Victory Fair, organized on the occasion of Martyred Intellectuals Day, paid tribute to the valiant martyrs of Bangladesh’s War of Independence, including the proclaimer of independence, Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.
Australia’s Minister for Home Affairs, Immigration, and Multiculturalism, Tony Burke MP, attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the fair. Special guest Mark Coure MP, Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs, New South Wales, was also present.
The chief guest praised the past activities of Zia Forum and highlighted the significance of his recent visit to Bangladesh. The special guest, in his speech, commended Zia Forum Australia’s efforts in promoting and spreading Bangladeshi culture.
Present on stage at the event were Shah Zaman Titu, President of the Liberal Party’s Lakemba branch and former councilor; Councilor Rizal Hawariqa; Councilor Ibrahim Masud Khalil; Councilor Ashiqur Rahman Esh; and former Councilor Sanjida Akter Sanjida, along with other prominent members of the community.
The event, presided over by Zia Forum President Sohel Mahmud Iqbal, began with a welcome speech delivered by Zia Forum’s General Secretary, Zakir Alam (Lenin). The program was hosted by Tafatun Naim Nitu and Polly Farhad.
The large audience presence made the fair vibrant and attractive. The fair showcased Bangladeshi culture and heritage, featuring stalls with traditional foods, which were a major highlight for visitors. Additionally, stalls selling clothing and traditional jewelry were eye-catching. Alongside the main sponsor, notable sponsors of the fair included Genius Home and Australia National Disability Care.
On behalf of the organizers, the guests were honored with commemorative mementos. Present at the event were former Zia Forum President Ariful Haque, Organizing Secretary Ashraful Alam Roni, Joint General Secretary Mita Kaderi, along with Sade Samad, Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman Labu, Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Kamrul Islam, Yasin Arafat Apu, and Rakibul Islam Mia Apu, among others.
The chief guest, Mr. Tony Burke MP, distributed awards among the sponsors. In the concluding segment of the program, Bangladesh’s popular singer Mila captivated the audience with her mesmerizing performance.
