Reception and Discussion Meeting Held in Honor of Mr. Shamim Ahmed, Organising Secretary of Sylhet District BNP, in Australia
A reception and discussion meeting was held in honor of Mr. Shamim Ahmed, the elected Organising Secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Sylhet District Branch, on the occasion of his short visit to Australia. The event was organized by the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechchasebok Dal (Nationalist Volunteers Party), Australia Chapter, on Sunday, 19 October 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Lakemba Library Hall, located in the heart of Sydney’s Bangladeshi community.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. Mashiur Rahman Tuhin, Convener of the Australia Chapter of the Nationalist Volunteers Party, and conducted by Mr. Zahidur Rahman, Member Secretary. The event was graced by Mr. Mohammad Omi Ferdous, International Affairs Secretary (Joint Secretary rank) of the Central Committee of the Nationalist Volunteers Party, as the Chief Guest. Mr. A.F.M. Towhidul Islam, President of BNP Australia, attended as the Keynote Speaker, while Mr. Md. Faizur Chowdhury, Vice President of BNP Australia, joined as Special Guest.
In his address, Chief Guest Mr. Mohammad Omi Ferdous said, “During the past fascist regime, leaders like Shamim Bhai risked their lives and faced countless false cases and attacks, following the directives of Mr. Tarique Rahman to fight for the people’s rights in Bangladesh. On behalf of the Central Committee of the Nationalist Volunteers Party, I express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to him for his courageous leadership.”
Keynote Speaker Mr. A.F.M. Towhidul Islam, President of BNP Australia, said, “On behalf of the BNP Australia family, we warmly welcome and congratulate Mr. Shamim Ahmed. Despite the oppression and persecution by the autocratic regime, you and your colleagues courageously continued the struggle on the streets, especially during July and August under the leadership of Mr. Tarique Rahman. We extend our sincere thanks to you and all fellow leaders and activists for your dedication.”
In his response, Honored Guest Mr. Shamim Ahmed said, “I am deeply moved to be among you today during my short visit abroad. On behalf of my family and Sylhet District BNP, I sincerely thank and express my gratitude for the love and respect you have shown me in such a short time. I wish all of you good health and long life.”

Jumman Hossain, Publicity Secretary, BNP Australia, Mr. Nur Alam, Acting Member Secretary, NSW Chapter of the Nationalist Volunteers Party.
