The Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechchasebok Dal (Nationalist Volunteers Party) organized a protest meeting in Sydney, Australia, condemning the planned conspiracy, propaganda, and false accusations against Mr. Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
As part of the centrally announced program of the Bangladesh Nationalist Volunteers Party, the meeting was held on Saturday, 19 July, at 4:00 PM at the Lakemba Library Hall in Sydney. The event was organized by the Australia Chapter of the Nationalist Volunteers Party.
The meeting was presided over by Mr. Mashiur Rahman Tuhin, Convener of the Australia Chapter, and conducted by Mr. Zahidur Rahman, Member Secretary.
The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. Mohammad Rashedul Haque, BNP’s Central International Affairs Secretary, while Mr. Mohammad Omi Ferdous, International Affairs Secretary (Joint Secretary rank) of the Central Committee of the Nationalist Volunteers Party, attended as the Keynote Speaker.
Invited guests included Mr. A.F.M. Towhidul Islam, President of BNP Australia; Mr. Shafiul Alam Shafique, Organising Secretary of BNP Australia; Mr. Khaja Daud and Mr. Murad Hossain, Joint Conveners of the Nationalist Volunteers Party Australia; Mr. Rahmat-ul Islam, Convener of the Victoria Chapter; Mr. Mithu Bepari, Convener of the New South Wales Chapter; and senior member Mr. Russell Ahmed, along with leaders from various wings and affiliated organisations of the BNP.
In his speech, Chief Guest Mr. Mohammad Rashedul Haque said:
“It is deeply regrettable and condemnable that the image of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and a valiant hero of the Liberation War (Bir Uttam), has been distorted and circulated mockingly on social media. At the same time, there is a deliberate attempt to insult Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and other top leaders with offensive remarks to create division within the party.”
He urged all leaders and activists to remain united, patient, and courageous in facing these conspiracies.
Keynote Speaker Mr. Mohammad Aumi Ferdous said:
“The law and order situation in Bangladesh has severely deteriorated. Recently, a young man named Sohag was brutally beaten to death in the Mitford area over a business dispute, which is completely unacceptable.”
He further stated that the perpetrators must be arrested and given exemplary punishment to ensure that such heinous crimes are not repeated.
Leaders and activists from BNP, Jubo Dal, Swechchasebok Dal, and Mohila Dal, along with other affiliated organizations, attended the meeting. All speakers emphasized the need for unity within the party to resist the ongoing political conspiracies and social disorder in Bangladesh.
