Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus today said he did not commit any crimes and that he was not afraid. He said this while answering reporters’ queries at the Anti-Corruption Commission office where he was called to present his statement in a money laundering and embezzlement case.
“It is a legal issue. My lawyer will provide the details,” Prof Yunus said after emerging from the ACC office.
Labelling the case as “false and baseless”, his lawyer Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun said, “The case was filed to malign the image of Prof Yunus.”
Prof Yunus, chairman of Grameen Telecom, accompanied by two other officials Nazmul Islam and Ashraful Hasan presented their statements at the ACC office from 10:00am to 10:50am regarding a money laundering and embezzlement case filed by Gulshan Anwar Pradhan.
They emerged from the ACC office at 11:15am. Prof Yunus, two officials and his lawyers, arrived at the ACC office at 9:37am.
On September 27, ACC Deputy Director Gulshan Anwar Pradhan issued a notice, asking Prof Yunus and seven others to appear before the ACC office today.
