Prayers for the Departed Leaders and Hajj Pilgrims, and Discussion on Upcoming Party Activities
Sydney, 18 May 2025 (Sunday):
A Doa Mahfil and Organizational Meeting were held at the Lakemba Library Hall in Sydney under the initiative of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Australia Chapter.
The event began with special prayers seeking blessings for party leaders and families preparing to perform Hajj this year.
As Chief Guest, Mohammad Rashedul Haque, International Affairs Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee, requested prayers for himself and his family on the occasion of his upcoming pilgrimage.
He said, “May Allah grant us the ability to fulfill this sacred duty properly and accept our Hajj. I seek everyone’s prayers for Bangladesh, for the BNP, and for the good health and long life of Begum Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and all BNP leaders and activists in Australia. InshaAllah, I will pray for everyone at the Holy Kaaba.”
In his speech as Special Guest, Mohammad Haydar Ali, General Secretary of BNP Australia, said, “The passing of our senior leaders is an irreparable loss. We pray that Allah grants them Jannah and gives patience to their families. May the blessings of the Hajj pilgrims bring acceptance and unity to all of us. BNP is one family—we must stand beside each other. We aim to strengthen the organization, form the new NSW committee, expand membership, and move forward with the implementation of the 31-point state-reform agenda declared by Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.”
Another Special Guest, Mohammad Omi Ferdous, Joint Secretary (International Affairs) of the BNP Volunteer Wing (Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal), said, “We pray for our departed leaders and express sympathy to their grieving families. At the same time, we must remain alert—there is a dangerous online propaganda campaign underway. Everyone must be more active online and respond strongly to misinformation and conspiracies against the organization.”
Presiding over the event, A.F.M. Tawhidul Islam, President of BNP Australia, said, “Our duty in this world is to pray for those who have departed and maintain compassion among the living. We pray that Allah forgives the sins of our deceased leaders, grants them Jannah, and gives strength to their families. We also seek prayers from our brothers performing Hajj for the BNP family, for Bangladesh, and for the entire Muslim Ummah. On the day of Arafat, please remember us all in your prayers under the shade of the sacred tree planted by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.”
Later, special prayers were offered for Mohammad Rashedul Haque and his family, Vice Presidents Faizur Chowdhury and Selim Lokiyat, and all other BNP leaders departing for Hajj this year.
Prayers were also held for the departed souls of Jafrin Ahmed (BNP Western Australia), Kawsar Ahmed Raju (nephew of Swechchasebak Dal Convener Moshior Rahman Tuhin), Jakia Akhter (mother of Mahfuzur Rahman, Convener of BNP Tasmania), and Abdus Samad Sarkar (father of Vice President Md. Kamal Hossain).
