30 November 2025, Sydney: Under the initiative of Australia BNP, a one-day specialized workshop titled “Use of Fact-Checking and AI in Social Media” was successfully held in Sydney. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of political communication in the digital era, information verification, and combating online misinformation.
The keynote session was conducted by Professor Dr. Shah J. Mia, Professor of Business Analytics & Applied AI at the University of Newcastle, Australia, and a member of the “Professional Expertise Group” aligned with the ideology of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman under the Office of the Acting Chairman of BNP.
He delivered an in-depth presentation on fact-checking methods, AI-based verification tools, misinformation detection algorithms, social media monitoring, and ethical digital activism.
Around 20 young members from Australia BNP, its affiliated wings, and Zia Cyber Force took part in the workshop. Participants received hands-on training in digital monitoring, information verification steps, reporting systems, and techniques to counter misinformation.
The workshop was inaugurated by BNP’s International Affairs Secretary, Rashedul Haque.

The primary objective of this technology-driven initiative is to build a skilled and trained fact-checking team capable of using modern AI-based verification techniques to identify misinformation circulating on social media.
The initiative aims to expose organized bot-driven propaganda, identify the sources of disinformation, and deliver accurate and verified information to the public and voters. Ultimately, this effort will contribute to strengthening Bangladesh’s democratic structure and reinforcing BNP’s role in establishing genuine democracy.
