The Chinese military has warned that a military confrontation with the United States could inadvertently erupt at any time if the US navy does not stop its provocative activities in the South China Sea. China’s military says recent US actions indicate similarly provocative hostility.

Military exercises are underway near the Shisha Islands in the South China Sea. An American guided missile destroyer has secretly entered the area. China has called the incident a violation of international law by the United States.
